I’m just becoming familiar with Crywolf but I will say that it’s been one of my most pleasant surprises of late following his collab with TNJ favorite Aylen for Silence Pt. 2. With his debut EP Ghosts due out on 4/9, he released this latest track as a single off of the record for free download! Tender piano lines meet big time punchy drums, vocal chops and some earth shattering wobbles for that “lovestep” sound I’ve been drawn to lately a la Seven Lions, Adventure Club and the like.

Today is now March 18th and although the calendar says Spring is coming sometime around now, I’m currently sitting in the Binghamton University library staring out at a FUCKING SNOWSTORM. Thankfully while I’m sitting here wildly underdressed and freezing my ASS off, I can at least take solace that there’s a little bit of summertime, all the time wherever Viceroy is involved. Crywolf & Aylen – Silence Pt. II

I’m gonna have to make a lovestep category on this site or something. TNJ favorite Aylen has teamed up with producer Crywolf to release this beautiful track titled Silence Pt. II. While it’s certainly not “dubstep” in the way you’d think of an old Skrillex or Datsik release, it encapsulates the progressive and melodic tendencies that current “dubstep” artists like Seven Lions have conquered. While I’m not a die-hard Crywolf fan, I have heard nothing but great things from other people about his work and as far as New Jersey’s rising superstar Andrew Lin, this is just another display of his versatility. The two incorporated spurts of trap/hip-hop drum work to accentuate beautiful chord work, haunting vocals and Adventure Club-esque low end wobbles. This is a MUST have for anyone and everyone.

It is a small world out there on the internet. A couple of weeks ago we received a submission from upcoming producer SPAVEECH and although we liked his trapped out remix of Rock The House, it got lost in the shuffle and unfortunately never got a post. Fast forward to today and CHANGE., one of my favorite artists to look out for on my SoundCloud just released a bootleg using the aforementioned SPAVEECH’s remix of Summit. The original Skrillex tune was one of my favorites and has been remixed by everyone and their mother including Krewella & Aylen; needless to say it has to be something special to get my attention. They intertwine Sonny’s haunting vocals with layers of synths and flawlessly build the track into a frenzied electro drop that I would expect out of an earlier Porter Robinson production.

The hip hop Psy? Unfortunately, I’ve fallen victim to the original “All Gold Everything” (as I’ve played it like 100 times). Also, the “Popped A Molly I’m Sweatin’” thing has taken off with a LeBron video, followed by Dillon Francis popping a molly, and even a remix from our buddy Aylen. Regardless, this song isn’t going anywhere for a while as Trinidad James just signed a two million dollar record deal.

Following his Dancing Astronaut premiered remix of Clarity, TNJ favorite Aylen has followed up with a moombah/trap/trollstep remix of…well…a YouTube clip of Dillon Francis singing All Gold Everything. If nothing else, this is a pure production muscle-flexing; Aylen first plays the clip, chops it, turns it into a moombahton breakdown and then reworks it again at the second drop for an unbelievable trap drop. It’s awesome to see an artist really having fun with what he’s doing and it’s things like this that gives TNJ a reason to believe that Aylen is one of the artists to keep a close eye on through 2013!

Well this just about solidifies the fact that Aylen might have one of the best ears out right now. After coming off a successful stint on tour with 3LAU and countless successful free releases including a remix of Zedd that found it’s way onto Dancing Astronaut, Aylen took to DA again to premiere this beautifully done remix of Coldplay’s lighter-wave-inducing Fix You. Already a classic in my mind, this interpretation serves as the perfect EDM compliment to a timeless song.

Zedd and his management just has this dance music market figured out. Step 1: Release entire album; none of the tracks are in their extended mixes. Step 2: Release all of the extended mixes as their own singles so you can keep momentum going/DJs happy. Step 3: Have such amazing vocal parts that you can release all of the acapellas so that you can spawn producers from all of the bedroom talent around the world. This high energy edit from TNJ favorite Moiez is the next victim of the remix treatment and it is just monstrous. Pure production perfection and an awesome addition to a list of remixers that includes Aylen & Kastra!
